Love, love, love.

What can I say?  I can’t believe this semester is almost over.  Looking back, it seemed like yesterday when I arrived in Beijing on a cold, frosty morning.  I’ve watched the winter thaw out, flowers bloom, jackets to shirts, pants to shorts, spring to summer.  Despite only a semester, it feels like I’ve made friends for life… All the people I’ve met and have gotten close to are quite an amazing bunch.  Different countries, backgrounds, schools, yet we’ve all bonded better than I can ask for.  And I am happy, and very fortunate to have the opportunity to study for a semester at Peking University.  At the same time, I’m sad that I must leave and continue on with the rest of my life.  I suppose that’s life, and I will cherish this semester forever.  It’s quite like nothing I can ever ask for.

Thank you Ma Yue, Edward, Mika, Peter, etc for making this semester one of the best.  I can’t truly thank you guys enough for everything you’ve given me, shown me, and taught me.

Until I leave, I will enjoy the last three weeks and make the best of it.  I <3 Beijing!

Peking University!

It has already been about 3 weeks into this break and I am more than ready to start school again!  Heading off to Peking Uni for spring and cannot wait for what’s in store for me… Too bad classes don’t start until February 21st… In the mean time I’ll just bum around Frisco and get ready to leave for Shanghai on the 25th.

Continuity

Hell, it’s been 3 months since I’ve last updated this blog.

Sophomore year of college IS really quite stressful.. swamped with online homework, tests, projects and my study broad next semester to PKU (whoop!).  Nevetheless, still a great semester with all my friends here at Texas A&M.  Ups and downs with family, but still holding on, trudging ahead.

“Keep going and you’ll eventually make it.”

let’s get it started!

Damn I’m getting lazy with this blog.. o well.

Spent another amazing summer travelling here and there, went about clubbing and partying in Shanghai, short excursion to Hong Kong to wait out my visa, and a backpacking journey through Southwest China.  It was quite a productive summer, did quite a lot of networking in Shanghai and met many gracious people whilst travelling.  Tibet still tops my list, and after three years since I was there, it was just as good if not better!!  And the eye-opening experiences that come with such journeys are the reason why I travel.

Time to get back into the grind and start my 17 hours worth of classes and ready to meet some new people this semester.  =)

I am lost in HK

came over to HK 2 days ago from Shanghai via Shenzhen… got a citation for illegally overstaying in China for ONE day.  Ok, at least I didn’t have to pay a fine but doesn’t look good on my record.  Anyhow, the train ride was monotonous enough but with plenty of screaming and laughing and jumping little kids that their parents had no intention of controlling…

It’s my first time in Hong Kong and everything seems quite fresh.  Seems like a rowdier version of Tokyo to me.  The food is great but the weather sucks big time.  Not so much the raw temperature but the humidity kills me.  I think my shirt gets soaked then dries then gets soaked… 6 or 7 times a day.  Needless to say, a nice cool shower at night is the most enjoyable part of my day.

Will be leaving HK Tuesday to go back to Shanghai.  HK is great, but still I love SH more!

Summer limbo

Freshman year is over already for a few weeks and looking back, it has been a truly amazing year.  The friends that I’ve made, the things that I’ve experienced and all the good parties… unforgettable.  I just want to thank everyone that’s in my life right now, for good or for bad, that shaped me into who I am today (hopefully a better person… haha).
Now that I’ve been in Shanghai for about a week and a half, things are starting to settle into somewhat of a routine.  Went to a few bar with Hongtao last week when he came visited Shanghai and shit was crazy… 50Y all you can drink Carlsberg (THE bottom-shelf foreign Chinese bar beer… if there is such a thing) and 15Y more for a hookah, can’t be beat!!!  Seems like I’ve prepared all freshman year for that, and I impressed even myself with the amount that I’ve downed… haha.

On another note, I’m quite sick of all the materialistic people flaunting their shit in Shanghai… seems like it’s getting worse year after year.  People driving their Audis and BMWs act like they rule the road (READ: they will run you over), young girls with their face caked with makeup “shopping” with their poor s.o.b. foreign boyfriends and flaunting name-brand items EVERYWHERE.  Jesus Christ.

Oh, and I fell into a lake off of a row boat  yesterday… my cell phone went to shit, so I bought a fake “Nokia” phone for only 160Y… not bad.  I also taught a bunch of Chinese college kids how to shotgun beer…  so in the end, I suppose it was a productive enough day.

time flies

One more month or so and this semester is done and I’ll be a sophomore in college.. funny how fast time flies.  I suppose before I even realize it I’ll be graduating huh?

Pretty excited for another great summer, flying to Shanghai May 17th and then heading to Japan via ferry for a week… then Tibet with my sister.  The joy of travelling!
